Maron is an ordinary schoolgirl, or so her friend Miyako thinks. What she doesn't know is that Maron is the reincarnation of Joan of Arc (Jeanne d'Arc). At night Maron transforms into Jeanne to steal deceptive beauties- pieces of art that have been possessed by demons. She cures the people who have been influenced by the demon by changing the art into a chess piece (a pawn). During the day she is an ordinary schoolgirl. She is a member of the school's rhythmic gymnastics team.

Maron lives alone in her apartment. Her next door neighbor, Chiaki constantly complicates her life with his flirting. Miyako lives across the hall with her mother and her father. Maron's one constant companion is Fish Fin, a small angel that most people can't see.
